My dogs don't eat socks. They do eat peanut butter, yogurt and cheese, even spray cheese in a can. Incidentally, my vet does indeed use the spray can cheese as a bribe. A little peanut butter or cheese or deli meat is perfectly fine and not at all like eating a sock which might require a surgical fix . |
You're an idiot. |

for some dogs, diversity can work. So if you mix up peanut butter one day with liverwurst the next then whipped cream or cheese in a can or whatever they don't get bored with/suspicious of any one thing.
My dog likes cheese, so I just mold some cheese around a pill. She also loves popcorn so I've considered maybe securing a pill in a kernel but I'm not sure it'll work! |
| My dog likes novelty a lot-is it possible if you rotate the treats that would help? |
What's that old saying, "takes one to know one"?
|
This, or a simple mortar and pestle, they are like $10 online. Or a hammer and pills in a ziplock bag. Mix with wet canned dog food. |
| Velveeta is a hit with my dogs. When they get bad, deli meat always works. It is a tiny expense compared to the meds themselves. |
| Can you try to just rotate the flavor? See if the peanut butter works again after some time off? |
|
Have you tried the pill pockets?
If your dog is a food lover, what often worked for mine is pretending I am eating the pill and then either offering it to the dog or dropping it. Dog would scarf it up without tasting it. I agree with the folks that said rotate the food. The dog is figuring out which food has the pill. Give several treats a day and change what has the pill. |
You’re vulgar. |
| Your dog is training you. And it’s working |
| How about grinding the medication (I presume it's in pill form) and mixing it in with a soup or a broth. My dog loves chicken and beef soup. |
|
Do NOT crush pills or open capsules and mix with food period. Some meds are time released and or your dog would not receive full benefit of dosage.
Load a tablespoon with peanut butter with pill hidden in center, and let him lick it off. Most dogs love PB. |
Some meds may be time released but not all, so it might be OK to mix some meds with food. Best to check with your Vet or read the label on meds. |
