Sorry, why would you want incandescent bulbs? I get that people didn't like the fluorescent they were pitching 10-15 years ago, but LEDs are phenomenal. If you have an LED that doesn't look exactly like how you want it, you've got the wrong LED. And they last forever. And they use less energy.

Also, around 15% of people give or take cannot handle the refresh rate of LED's and it makes them ill feeling, causes visual tracers and dots, affects hormones, etc.

LED's are not natural light from an incandescent source.

I mean, mine are rate for 10-20 years. And you can get them in literally any tone, warmth, color, etc.

And there's no evidence that 15 percent of people cannot handle the refresh rate of high quality LEDs. Stop.

Most don't last long, at least not as long as older USA made incandescent bulbs, which would average a longer lifespan than that. Many older light bulbs I have had in houses last over 30 years of daily use. LED's from China now might get 2-5 years max now.

Also, in addition to aforementioned health effects by around 15% of humans, there are negative health effects from LEDs for all humans, in regards to "blue light" and some UV radiation exposure to the eyes from them.

Yeah, maybe you’re buying the wrong bulbs. The ones I have show no signs of faltering. Maybe be a little smarter with what you buy?

As for the health issues - I looked it up and everything out there says it’s a not well established issue and only a small number of people are affected. I’m not pushing anything that’s just what all the credible sources said.

PP, I’m the OP — still following this thread. My original post was made in an effort to get suggestions about what some of the “right” bulbs might be. It’s hard to be “smarter” when I’m starting from scratch — and my first (easily available) choices have not been good ones. At the risk of being overly repetitive, if you have any “smarter” suggestions— about specific brands or even a link to an article, I’d appreciate it.

Well, as my original post noted, I’m trying to find lightbulbs that are similar to the type of lighting that I’ve grown used to — using incandescent bulbs. So far I’ve been unsuccessful, so I’m asking for suggestions. I’m fine with using LED bulbs — and would appreciate any specific suggestions that you might have. The more specific the better.

Thanks for the heads up re: Giant and Balducci’s for the Mexican Coke! I’ll try a bigger suburban Giant. I have seen kosher for Passover Coke at the Giant I usually go to, but not the Mexican Coke. I’ll look harder, and also see if it’s something the smaller Giant can stock. (OP)

My anecdata about LED longevity:

In 2014 I went all-in and replaced every light bulb in the house with LED bulbs. Recently, my 22-year-old son complained that a light in his room had stopped working. I told him he probably needed to change the bulb.

He did not know what those words meant.

Literally. I had to show him that the thing in the fixture that produces light unscrews and you can screw in a replacement. He had never needed to do it or seen it done.

They distort color, even the warm led lights.

That's because the colored covers are clear, and you get direct eye contact with the diode and it's harmful to the eye. Same as taillights on some vehicles.

I have to pull over and let someone get ahead if driving at night behind someone with LED exposed diode taillights.

Epileptics really have trouble with LED lights I hear.

OP, you can still buy incandescent lights in places, but most are 40Watt bulbs. Harder to find 60Watt incandescent, but if you look around you might still find plenty.

Good to know! I’ve held off from looking online, so it’s nice to know that finding something similar to what I’ve been using might still be an option. The last incandescent bulbs that I bought were probably from Rodman’s — which I thought might be one of the last places to continue to carry them. I’m also fine with trying LED options too — I just hate the ones that I’ve tried so far. (OP)
