Mine has a desk to hold school stuff but doesn’t sit there. |
2 kids in college, neither did their work at a desk in their room when in k-12 |
My kids room is too small to have a desk. But we have an amazing desk in a nook near the living room on the main floor which is a big open space so you can see dining room table and kitchen.
My now going into middle school kid always does his homework at the dining room table. He has not used the desk once, but I use it a lot to do bills, etc… It would be nice if he did it at the desk so the dining room table is clear. There is always books and stuff to one side. |
Elder son uses the Queen Anne credenza in the upstairs parlour in the smaller guesthouse. Younger son is a real rascal, and prefers the dressing table in the maids’ quarters. |
I asked my granddaughter that today. She does it in the kitchen or in her room. Her brother does it in his room or his dad’s office. They are very good students and voracious readers. |
My teens have desks their rooms. They get a LOT of homework and really need quiet for it and space to spread out their text books and paper. At least for math, which is a significant chunk of their homework. Same with longer papers/essays. There are some smaller Chromebook assignments they will do in bed or wherever. They have younger siblings as well. The dining room table to typically occupied by them doing crafts or their elementary homework with me. |
