I have seen both boys and girls with cigars post graduation at several school photos. This is not unique to boys or to Gonzaga. At all. |
| Loyola Blakefield in Baltimore does too. |
It's a catholic school boy thing. 30 years ago, they had "smokers." Like events with cigar smoking I guess. |
So many guys schools smoke cigars on their graduation..normally with their dad and friends. They are 18 so legal and a fun way to celebrate! I did it 20 years ago with my dad and it was a fun memory. |
This. What’s with the negative Gonzaga energy with these threads? White jackets 😲 3 puffs of a stinking cigar 😨 so many Econ majors 😱 — all apparently only noticed, and criticized, at Gonzaga, according to the OPs. |
Maybe all of the Jesuit schools do. It's what you wear in the summer months. You don't wear a black tux in the day. |
And every boys school in the area. |
All from OPs stalking Gonzaga IG, with apparently zero knowledge that tons of other high schools have similar traditions. |
St. Anselm's does too; a tradition there started by one of the Benedictine monks. |
| Public HS are doing the cigar thing now too. Especially at prom. |

What's the big deal about graduates smoking cigars after commencement?
These kids are 18, they are adults, they can do whatever the F they want. |
