The teachers are very involved in afterschool clubs, activities, etc--far more than what I found in their elementary school (also in the Rockville cluster).

We have not had any issues with bullying but I have heard of many instances where an act could be perceived as bullying and the administration jumped right on it. And some of those cases were just kids messing around with their friends but the school still made sure to meet with the kids and inform the parents. But again, I have not been involved in serious bullying instances so YMMV.

My kids have found great friends at Wood and I'm glad they will be continuing to high school with those kids. Is it the best middle school in MCPS? No. But I wouldn't base your opinion completely on the ratings you read.

To be fair, the reviews aren’t wrong, though a 2.6 is a bit too nice for the school. Rockville cluster has gone to a catastrophic decline since that infamous incident…

Catastrophic decline 😂😂😂 this is not true. At all. Plenty of parents and kids love the Rockville cluster. Maybe you have an axe to grind?

The guy who did the sexual assault at that high school is innocent actually lol, I dont think he deserved any punishment

Neither did that security guard at Wood who got fired two years ago, idk why tho

Those were in the past, even if they didn’t get the punishment they needed they still deserve the infamy.

How do they "try" one of those schools? They'd have to move to one of those cluster.

One feature is they continue on with the same cohort into HS (for the most part, allowing for kids who went to HS magnet programs and kids who came into RHS for the IB program).

The instrumental music program at Wood is PHENOMENAL. Truly.

No, not in MCPS. Lots of people use the ‘shared housing’ loophole to get their kids into a different school cluster.

Borderline residency fraud, but MCPS doesn’t have the resources to pursue families who go this route. And this is a diverse area. It is common in other cultures to consider people ‘family’ or ‘extended family’ and so it is seen as acceptable to use their address to get your child into a different MCPS school cluster.

They do not make “diddy jokes” they probably say “nice try diddy” like most kids at most schools do.
