Canadian Election 2025

Libs+NDP now have 70% chance of majority, and 20% chance of plurality plus coalition with NDP/others

Trump is a lead weight dragging down all his allies and rightwingism in general. The post-Covid reactionary right wave was short lived, as the world realizes that the only thing worse than the left wing is the right wing.

Yay! Thanks Trump

I wonder if Alberta would consider secession and/or joining the US if the Liberals win this election. They are culturally and economically closer to Montana and the other nearby red states than they are to Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Vancouver.

There certainly seem to be a number of Twitter bots that are in favor of that plan.

They won't leave. Danielle will make a lot of noise and dumb decisions, but leaving is not to their benefit.

95% chance of Liberal majority. Trump showing up caused -25pt for the rightwing party.

Everybody hates Trump.

Pollievre is promising to end the ban on plastic straws. I wonder where he got that idea. 😅

I wonder how many 80 year old Prime Ministers Canada has had. Presumably zero since the average Canadian is smarter than the average American.

Our oldest was 74.

Sometimes I wonder if there should be a limit on age simply due to the possibility of cognitive decline or death whole in office.

Of course there should be. 80 year old people shouldn't be the most powerful person on Earth for similar reasons to why 20 year old people shouldn't be the most powerful people on Earth. Basic common sense.

I watched the debate last night and wanted to sucker punch him in the face.

I saw some of the debate too and the one thing that struck me is the obvious competence among the Canadian candidates relative to the horrifically embarrassing Trump vs Biden debates. We have 8 times more people to choose from. How does this happen? Are our voters that much more stupid?

Wasn't even a real prime minister. He was a placeholder after the previous PM died shortly before and election, and was gone before the next session of Parliament started.

Yes. It's the climate. Canada is too cold, so only has one rural province with substantial population (Alberta). Everyone else lives in cities.
