I had no idea about this ![]() |
I bought these silicone ones a few years ago, are they okay?
Zulay Non-Stick Silicone Utensils... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085YFQB23?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share |
Never bought them in the first place, because it was obvious they would leak into your food while cooking and stirring things around the pan, scraping, etc. Yuck. |
Got rid of all the black plastic, kept the silicone, metal, and wood |
You want to find a brand that uses “food grade” silicone so it’s 100 percent silicone. I found a brand on Amazon called Fyvva. |
How do we know the gray stuff is any better? It's just the black stuff mixed with some white? |
The black stuff was made from recycled materials such as batteries, etc. I just got rid of all my plastic stuff. |
Wow. Had no idea people were still using those. We've never used those in my family. Only wood and Metal. |
Are you serious?! That’s nuts. |
Nope. My favorite spatula that I have had for 20 yrs is black no way i am getting rid of it. |
I have a black plastic spatula that used to belong to my grandma. She died in 1981 and I inherited it. I don't think they recycled things back then so I doubt it is made out of anything recycled. No one in my family has died or gotten cancer from using it for the last 43 years and I am going to keep using it. If I get cancer when I am in my 80's, I guess I can blame this spatula. |
If I can survive the substances I ingested in my 20s, I can survive anything. |
I'm 60...does it matter at this point |
I'm going to after listening to the podcast about it. I'm not sure how to check silicone, etc. "food grade silicone". I get most of my things at Home Goods or the supermarket.
Will absolutely not be using wood or metal. as if. |
