Private HS- ban cell phones bell to bell

I teach at a private school and it’s very easy to get sports announcements and game times out there. They announce it at lunch, they email the kids and the teachers so teachers can announce it to their students if they are in class at that time. Then words gets around peer to peer. Worst case scenario the coach calls the classroom where the kid is and they run down to the bus. No need for phones for that.

It sounds like your school already has non-digital systems in place for that and that’s great. For the schools who up until this year allowed phones at some point during the day, and still use only text, email, and the student portal to disseminate information, it’s more challenging. I’m not advocating for phones, I’m saying that this was a fast change for the schools and some of them have not developed non-digital workarounds yet, which is a downside.
