Maryland drivers!

Before you get in my face I consider myself one - though my Pennsylvania roots urge me to be courteous when roles are reversed.

Yes it was a Beemer driver. HoCo. All stated for context but I am all over the state for my job and I see it everywhere. I am now conditioned when I use my signal to doublecheck before I take the space - and then to check tags. Yep, another MD driver.

I don't speed up but i don't slow down either ‐‐ because there's not enough space for you to get in front of me. You actually expect me to hit my brakes and "let you in" when there is NO ONE behind me and you can simply change lanes behind me.

Virginia has 11.6 deaths per 100,000 people and 1.23 deaths per 100,000,000 miles traveled.

The two places Maryland drivers drive the most, Maryland and DC, are 4.8/0.94 (DC) and 9.1/0.99

In this survey, Virginia was ranked #15 worst and Maryland was ranked #31

https://www.forbes.com/advisor/car-insurance/states-with-worst-driving-behaviors/

In this study, based on NHTSA data, Maryland was ranked 13th best, Virginia was ranked 27th best.

https://munley.com/states-with-the-best-and-worst-drivers/

According to this analysis, Virginia has the 4th worst drivers (Maryland wasn’t in the worst or best 10)

With this commentary:

“ In Virginia, drivers receive traffic citations 20% more frequently than the national average. In addition, 27% of drivers have an at-fault incident listed on their auto insurance policies.

Virginia has 9.7 traffic fatalities per 100,000 people. However, it came in first for rudest drivers in the country, making it the worst state for drivers with road rage.”

So GTFO with this stupid shit.

You said it all very eloquently. Let's shut this stupid thread down and don't respond to the baiting. Who the F cares what Virginia thinks anyway?

This. The 1-2 Virginia posters who have no lives, so they come on here periodically to bash Maryland drivers, are deeply embarassing--to Virginia.

My main issue is always the Teslas cutting you off on the Dulles Toll rd.

None of you DMV snowflakes would survive a week driving in New Jersey.

Stop with the "Maryland drivers" "Virginia drivers" "Oh it was a DC driver, figures". Everyone in this area is a terrible driver, we're all too distracted with our phones, and we've all learned to drive in different parts of the country or world. There is no continuity.

Using a straw man? OP did NOT say they are from Virginia. You are disproving an argument different from the one OP makes. Oh and, Virginia thinks it’ll be grand if Md drivers did not cross the bridge into Va to work in Va.

Aw did I trigger you? Plenty of VA drivers in MD. So sorry VA has to get talent from Maryland.

Hope you find a safe place, pp

I do everything I can to avoid that shit hole of a state filled with terrible people and terrible drivers.

I’m a Maryland driver who spends about a third of the year in Jersey and I do fine, the only trouble is getting there past all the Virginia drivers going 62 in the left lane on the way.

MD drivers are so out of control. They're the worst drivers on the NE coast, period. Sorry, Jersey and NYC drivers, you're nothing compared to the idiocy of MD drivers. I seriously cannot tell if MD are extremely low IQ that borders on retar*ation or they just give zero Fs about the law. My bet is some combination of the 2.

Drive around Silver Spring, for example. They have dedicated BUS ONLY lanes all along Georgia Ave and University. It doesn't matter, MD drivers will drive on them the whole way because they want to aggressively cut in front of everyone and are so impatient they don't want to obey the law. Maybe they're just really stupid?

Last night as I was coming home from a sporting event that got over around midnight, I had a MD driver tailgating me to the point I couldn't even see their headlights. They RAGED at the fact that I stopped on a red light before attempting to make a right turn on red, so they swerved around me at the intersection and blew through the red light to make a right without stopping. Mind you this is a single right turn lane.

It's honestly really scary how much anarchy you encounter on the roads late at night on Fridays and Saturdays all around the MD side of the DMV. Insane drivers will weave in and out of traffic, blow through red lights, and drive 100-120 mph like they're racing in the fast and furious. They are an extreme danger to all of the cars around them who might have kids and pedestrians on the road. I mean it is truly shocking the stunts MD drivers pull and the extreme aggression they drive with for no reason. Worst drivers of all time.

^^^ what she really means is the *black driver* behind her with MD tags ^^^

You can tell by her tone. The “weaving in and out, tailgating, driving 100-120mpg, stunts” ect. You can tell she isn’t referring to some woman from Potomac in an Audi. Her racism is loud and clear with her dog whistle.

She was driving in MD at the time. Presumably surrounded by cars with MD tags. But she mentions NOTHING about all those other cars, and focuses entirely on the one driver being a jackass, and makes that the one outlier she encounters represent “Maryland drivers”.

Racist.

VA drivers can throw out anecdotal stories all they like. Statistics show VA drivers are worse than MD drivers.

OMG, STFU.

Maybe aholes shouldn't be driving in the bus lanes? Maybe aholes shouldn't be driving like uncontrollable maniacs going 50 mph above the speed limit with extreme aggression? Maybe aholes shouldn't be blowing through red lights because they don't feel like making a stop at 11 PM on a Saturday night?

It has nothing to do with being black. It has everything to do with being a fuggin ahole. You are so dimwitted I bet you are lead paint chips as a kid.

And you wonder why MD drivers are routinely ranked as some of the worst in the entire country and car insurance rates in MD skyrocket? You are enabler of this disgusting, lawless behavior.

Nah, it’s racist. It’s a dog whistle. Everyone knows this. That’s why they get mad when they get called on it.

Nothing says dimwitted quite like taking a series of experiences and forming a generalized conclusion across an entire state when all of the empirical data actually indicates the opposite.
