Saw someone this week on AN mentioned that Sara’s edited essay for her kid got it published as a “best of” college essay in NYT.
So yes, agree. |
You must not be very good then. Many students who write well and are "aiming for Harvard" could use the support that a good developmental editor can give them -- especially an editor who focuses on helping the student find the stories that will strongly communicate who they are and what they dream of. |
| College counselor here. My students who are "aiming for Harvard" and actually have a chance don't need any help with their writing. |
Don't be ridiculous. |
+1 |
Why ridiculous? It is true. My truly high achieving students are excellent writers on their own. They need very little of my guidance. This is 5% of my students. |
How much does she charge? |
"Don't need any help" is not the same as "need very little guidance." Kids aiming for Harvard are often the most conscientious and the most likely to ask for feedback both because they are ambitious and because the competition is terrifying. |

And I would say the opposite. He helped my DC with application to undergrad, grad, and currently law school. Happy to answer any questions if I can |

My DD was deferred so wrote a LOCI with their assistance and got in to her top choice (B+ student). Win-Win |
How are these services? |
How much was the one pass review? |
|
My daughter did the one pass review with essaymaster and Essaysthatworked.
Both were good, but essaysthatworked gave very detailed line by line feedback and was very helpful. |
We had a great experience with them too. Very helpful. |
