Menopause Forum

I didn't read the thread because as a sort of perimenopausal woman I do not have the attention span, nor the desire, to hear other opinions.

But I would like this. And I would seek others opinions and input when I want to, as well as share mine.

Please don't put it in Over 50. Perimenopause, which is the stage in which women experience actual symptoms, can being in the late 30s (which is within the range of normal). Menopause is essentially when periods cease and all the mess/crazy is over. Over 50 is not really going to capture the full range of affected ages, and also kind of erroneously stigmatizes "menopause" as an "old lady" thing.

I wholeheartedly endorse a "Perimenopause and Menopause and Related Issues" Forum!

This could include all the peri and menopause, plus issues like hormonal imbalances, fibroids, and stuff. Or would that be confused too frequently with the general health forum?

I absolutely agree the eldercare needs to be separate.

As (it seems) the only poster who does not support a Menopause based thread, I do like the suggestion of Women's Health and could see a Men's Health. The original health thread could be a catch all.

You must be young!

I know women in their late 70s who are twenty years postmenopausal and still having hot flashes that ruin their sleep.

Menopause is a moment in time when menses pauses after twelve consecutive dry months.

Many, many women suffer debilitating symptoms of the change of life for many years into postmenopause.

That works, I think.

Thanks for the separate forum, Jeff.

We want a dedicated forum to discuss peri and post menopause. I have seen complaints on the health forum about all the peri posts. There is enough interest to warrant a separate forum. I am not going to register to discuss my hot flashes and insomnia, either, thank you very much.

Mostly worried about the intrusive nature of folks when we talk about women’s bodies. And as a woman currently in the grips of perimenopause I feel like there is room for overlap for woman experiencing other reproductive health related concerns. Especially pain and period related things. So often symptoms are similar.

I’m the one who recommended Women’s Health. It could also include sexual function and contraception. Basically everything related to woman-specific health except things that fall into the TTC forum.

I think the original idea was to keep it streamlined to peri/menopause.

We already have a health and medicine forum. I don’t see a need for this. But it’s my preference I suppose… I don’t like so many categories.

50's and over. Then it can include men's health issues also.

Menopause is too specific. It's feature creep. After that, we'll have separate forums for all kinds of health issues.

Feminine Health

Then all the parents asking about their kid’s first periods will have a place to go, along with my vagina smells like fish what do I do…
