Easy-to-clean metal water bottles that don't leak or get moldy?

We've been using Simple Modern straw bottles for years and have never had a mold issue. How often do you wash them? Also, do you allow them to fully dry before using them again? We have maybe three sets each which allows for washing and drying fully.

We just bought Owala for the kids, but they are brand new.

I have had luck with Pura Kiki bottles, no straw and they drink out of the top.

Wait, do you hand wash everything you own that is plastic (or not own any plastic)? Tell us more. I don't use plastic storage containers, I don't put plastic in the microwave, but we do have plastic things and I put them on the top rack to wash. We don't use heat in the dishwasher, no melt risk. Why won't you put any plastic in the dishwasher.

OP, do you want one with a screw cap or a spout to drink from? Insulated or not? If insulated, any of the screw tops are easy to clean - yeti, hydroflask. My favorite to drink from is the camelbak chute. It has a lid that has a drinking spout with minimal parts. I put the tops in the dishwasher and hand wash the bottle. I like the drinking spout because it’s much easier to drink quickly from. No leaks, but like every other bottle, you have to seat the lid correctly and not crookedly. And if you ever want a plastic bpa free one, the camelbak reign bottles are great for sports practices.

Insulated or not doesn't matter. Type of top doesn't matter in and of itself as long as it doesn't leak and can stay mold-free by running it through dishwasher regularly (although probably in an ideal world it would be a straw or spout type.)

Yeti fits all these requirements. No complaints or leaks. We love the personalization (on their website) for our kids' bottles.

Have been using takeyas for over a year and still in great shape. I only put water in them, and I run them through the dishwasher every couple days—you just have to remove the silicone seal in the lid, but it’s really easy to take out and put back in. I put the seal the dw in the upper rack.

I’ve gotten rid of every other bottle in favor of these. They don’t leak and they keep liquids cold.

I have a metal thermoflask with a screw top lid that I found at a thrift store in excellent condition. I sterilized it in the dishwasher and it’s fine. Perfect size. Keeps ice for hours. It’s great.

My kids have had the same stainless steel Kleen Kanteen bottles for years. I rinse them out every day, and clean the silicone circle every few days to prevent mold. No straw, relatively wide mouth, screw top. They don't leak.

If you are OK with polypropylene plastic, Nalgene is a laboratory brand (makes test tubes and other materials for research) and has a stellar reputation.
