I've seen the opposite actually, which is shocking. I don't know how much it's changed, but Nova94, Nova Cavs, and Family over Fame had terrible coaches last year. A lot of the coaches are high school coaches too. Very concerning.

How late in the process is too late to get an offer? Most of my kiddos team heard last week. We got an offer yesterday. Is that too late?

I’m new to this but you just got a spot that someone else declined.

I believe they give offers out and as the team gets declines, the coach goes down the list and offers kids sports.

I wouldn't feel great about it. Do you have any other options? Does the org have play time philosophies? Some will say they try to get every kid X percent of the game.

Other options: Joining a low key AAU team (CYA, SYA, BRYC) may be a good opportunity to get real playing time. During off days, get some professional training (Evolution, MVM). By next year, you'll be ready to get day one offers.

I would only take a spot where it was clear my child was not in the first group of picks IF my kid had a friend on the team he really wanted to play with, and understood game time might be very limit AND I thought the coach was good.

You want a team where your kid is in the top half of the roster or at least part of the first 10-12 selected.

The 7th grade BRYC winter team is really strong. That spring team might be tough to make.

The 7th grade spring CYA team is being coached by a rec coach . They had four 7th grade winter teams in the county league, but none of those coaches seem to be coaching spring which I think is a little strange.

The spring SYA team is being coached by the same coach as the winter county team (they only have one team). My kid played in the higher division so don't know any specifics on that team but they look to be one of the better second tier teams.

Agree with pp, the BRYC team is very strong, but their best players may go to higher level teams for the spring season so it might be worth looking into.
