Dan Rather! Wrote him a letter with my friends (we were in our 20s) after watching his 9/11 coverage and he wrote back thanking us for being loyal Americans. Met him with my husband years later and he could not have been nicer and more gracious.

Scott Pelley was my favorite anchor on CBS evening news. Not pleased with his replacement so I stopped watching.

I grew up watching Peter Jennings and cried a little when he passed away. It’s such a shame.

I’d say he rebounded nicely with his MSBC show afterwards with the highest ratings during that time slot.
