Wow guess I'm behind the curve. I've been on spironolactone for years for my acne. Other than that I don't really do anything special.
Wash my face in the AM with Rx sulfacetamide cleanser 30-40 SPF moisturizer daily Occasionally a little eye cream at night Exercise daily, keep my weight in check I'm turning 42 and think I look pretty good. I'm half black so I'm sure that helps some. Last weekend 2 different people asked if I was in my 20s. |

I'm 43 and my routine is very similar to many already posted here.
Morning: Cleanser: Cetaphil Gentile Skin Cleanser (I've also used the Cerave Hydrating Cleanser and I like that as well) Hydrating Toner: Currently I'm using Naturium Niacinamide Essence Moisturizer: E.L.F. Holy Hydration Moisturizer Sunscreen: I've used many different ones - currently I'm using the Neutrogena tinted mineral sunscreen SPF 30 which is ok but I don't love it. I apply sunscreen RELIGIOUSLY and always apply 1/4 of a teaspoon to my face and neck, and I reapply throughout the day especially if I will be outdoors. I also try to always wear a hat if outside for an extended period of time. Evening: Cleansing Balm: Clean It Zero cleansing balm (this is an important step to remove the mineral sunscreen, which doesn't come off with regular cleanser alone) Cleanser: Cetaphil Gentile Skin Cleanser Retinol: Tretinoin .1 percent Moisturizer: E.L.F. Holy Hydration Moisturizer I also get botox in my forehead and between my eyebrows every 4 months. I've been following this skincare routine for the past five years and I think my skin looks pretty decent. (I started getting botox 3 years ago). I have literally no sunspots or melasma, which I attribute to the tretinoin and sunscreen. The botox has done a great job of smoothing out my forehead and the angry crease I used to have between my eyebrows. I do have smile lines which are genetic - I am not ready to pull the trigger on filler at this point. I think this is a pretty manageable and affordable routine and it keeps my skin looking basically as good as it can without spending major bucks on injectables and in-office procedures like lasers. |

I am 43 and until recently had a very rigid and intense facial routine, including regular facials, masks, exfoliation, serums...
And then I had a candida outbreak on my face that would not go away and my dorm told me to ditch EVERYTHING. I now use CeraVe hydrating cleanser morning and night, CeraVe moisturizer morning and night, and SuperGoop unscreen during the day. That's it. And my face looks better than ever. |

I am lucky enough to still have acne at the ripe old age of 46. So here's my regimen that has managed to keep both that and wrinkles under control:
oral - spironolactone, 100mg daily AM - aczone, cerave moisturizer PM - glycolic acid face wash, retin A gel hydrogel patches for any emerging acne |
I’m surprised your skin can tolerate a glycolic acid wash and retin A at the same time! |
|
AM:
Shea Moisture African Black Soap Olay Total Effects moisturizer w/sunscreen Dr. Jart’s Cicapair (reduces redness + sunscreen) No other face makeup PM: Shea Moisture African Black Soap Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum Olay Regenerist moisturizer |
| I got the Vit C, retin-A, and sunscreen going. But I cannot find a moisturizer that doesn't break me out. I've researched so many and all the ones touted for sensitive skin mess me up. Meanwhile, my skin is dry. |
Sunscreen! |
You are me! I’ve been using Doctor Rogers Restore line. It is amazing. I use the face lotion in daytime and the richer face cream in the evening. No issues |
Have you tried Skinfix? That’s my go to, and recommended by my derm. Sephora has a mini size to try out. |
Or maybe avoid the T zone when you are applying moisturizer? Most of my dryness is in my forehead and cheeks. |
|
Tretinoin
Aquaphor I drink enough water and mostly don’t like alcohol so rarely drink beer, wine, etc. I eat lots of fruits and vegetables. I use sunscreen. |
|
I have hyperpigmentation concerns so here is my routine….

How did you ask your derm to prescribe this? |
