what is this disgusting sticky stuff coating my cars on the daily?

Anonymous
I've had that sticky stuff on the car for weeks. I assumed it was from the trees that I park under. But definitely not from the wildfire smoke which just got here.

I wonder if there was something crazy going on with the air over the past week or two.

Thank you! I'm not OP but I've been wondering this.

Does it smell like maple syrup?

We have too many trees in this area we need to cut at least 75% down

Nonsense.

It’s seemed worse this year because of the lack of rain.

We absolutely need these trees for air quality, heat protection, noise reduction and habitats.

I took my car to the car wash this afternoon and it came right off. It had gotten to the point where I couldn't see clearly out the side windows, and the front windshield was very streaky even after using half my windshield washer fluid.

PP here - I'm sure mine must have been from trees. It wasn't just in a few spots it was evenly over the entire car. And it preceded the wildfire smoke so I can't blame Canada.

I’ve had it for weeks well before wildfires.

Thought some kids were spraying me with vape pens or something.

Interesting. We have a large oak tree out front and have had the sticky stuff coating our cars for a couple weeks now (at least). It's awful and in the 10 years we've lived in our house I don't remember it being nearly this bad! I wondered if it was related to the lack of rain. But I disagree with that article that a "quick rinse" will take care of it. Totally not our experience- we've washed the cars several times and gone through lots of windshield wiper fluid and its really hard to get off, whatever it is.
