PreK rejection

Sure! My suggestion is to send a thank you email to the admission director stating that BVR is your first choice. PK is when all the siblings get it (we are applying for my youngest now) so K is also an option if this time does not work out. Good luck

++ My husband did this at our top choice school and I think it did make a difference. I would let your top choice know that you were impressed with the school.

I feel like two of them are being cold - maybe all in my head but not getting a super warm vibe. 2 are really warm, 1 isn't either warm or cold. If it's impossible for everyone but teacher's kids, alumni, and other people with a hook, then what do we do? Keep applying every year? The goal is to be in a k-12 private ASAP because I do not want to do this for high school (I mean, I will if the school no longer works for my kid but want the stay the course option as an insurance policy).

In our experience, warmth had nothing to do with admission/rejection outcome.
Sidwell was by far the nicest warmest admission team. They answered every single email right away, responded to thank you notes; etc. DD was rejected (not even waitlisted). BVR was middle of the road (though we got good comments from our preschool director after the playdate… they adimission teams talk). DD was accepted. Maret was a long shot… they were very nice, but DD was waitlisted.

+1. School warmth is like getting a response to your thank you note after a job interview. It’s nice but it’s never been meaningful in my experience. Some admissions directors are just better at responding to emails.

You can do this in the admissions essays.

At our school the Admissions Director would informally tell the parents why if their kid wasn’t accepted and also if they should try again. If you aren’t connected it was just a nice note.

+1. My nephew was rejected from GDS (DC royalty and legacy) and they provided a reason.

Beauvoir rarely rejects. Almost everyone not admitted is WLed.

As PPs have said, it's a numbers game. Once you factor in the legacy/sibling/staff applicants, there are way more qualified applicants than available spots.

If you get WL or Rejected is it ok to ask the admissions whether applying for Kindergarten is worthwhile?

More specifically like if they believe your kid will never to be admitted in ES? (Bc of behavior issues or being behind a lot of peers in various milestones etc)

None.

It's hard. It'll hurt. You'll know it's not personal (just numbers) but it'll still hurt.

I read another strand on here a few weeks ago about a woman who still holds a grudge against Potomac School b/c her child was rejected (even though her child ended up at a #big three). I cannot find it but just remember it.

Prepare yourselves, parents.

I would not.

What incentive would the admissions office have to say no?

What to do if your kids gets rejected from vpk? What does that mean ? And how can I become eligible?
