| So DC got in to Level IV AAP, but we declined in favor of switching to private school. We thought that a classroom of under 15 kids would benefit our child more than AAP, as he is very smart, with average classroom performance. He is not one to speak up in class. Anyway we got notice today, one month before school starts, that our private school had some big brouhaha earlier in the year (which we were vaguely familiar with but had numerous discussions with the administration regarding the upcoming year, future of the school, etc....) and basically everyone has left in the upper grades. Only one child in 3rd grade has enrolled, plus our child. I feel duped and heavily disappointed that this new opportunity is not going to be fulfilled. Anyway, I had withdrawn from our base public, as well as declined the Center placement....has anyone tried to get back into the center in the summer after declining? I will be calling but am on vacation and it is difficult to get away from nosey family members and my child to follow through this week...we have totally talked up this change to DC....he is not going to take this well, so we need to figure this out before telling him... |
| The Center has to let you in. |

Looks like PP gave you the form you needed, which is good because now I can move on to my question...
I confess I am insanely curious as to what private school had such a major implosion. Can you tell us the name? |
| OP here. I will post back later with more details once I get things figured out on all ends. |

From the private school board... I thought Chesterbrook Academy was one of those chain daycares...
"I am beside myself. After much soul searching and angst, we had decided to switch our child from public to the Chantilly Chesterbrook academy for third grade. He spent a day there in second grade, I spent some time observing in the third grade classroom, and my husband and I each spent a couple hours with the vice principal going over things. We have now hyped up the school to our child....and TODAY in July I get a call saying there were issues earlier this year there, teachers are leaving, and now there are only TWO kids registered for third grade, so they are basically SHUTTING DOWN from third grade up. I am beyond frustrated. On one hand I am glad whatever issues happened did not happen to us,but on the other hand WTH do we do now???? " |
