... are they totally worth the splurge?
I wear basic black pumps to work probably 2x/week. The pair that I have (notice, I said THE PAIR) is probably 5 years old. They are in great shape but I could really, really use new. I have very weird-sized feet so can NEVER EVER EVER find good grownup shoes (esp now that Filenes is gone). Nordstrom is having their anniversary sale, and they have a pair of black, closed toe pumps (in the Nike Air line) on sale for $200. Is it worth it? I am not the type to spend more than $50 on a pair of shoes ever, and the $200 would have to go on the credit card. But... if I keep these forever - as I am likely to - then it would be a good idea, yes? Please tell me that they are overrated, or that they are the best thing since sliced bread. |
| Try them on - everyone's feet are different. Some Cole Haans feel great on me, others are too narrow and pinch my toes. |
| I absolutely love mine. I have closed toe black pumps as well as a couple of others from that same line. I wear my closed toe black pumps to work at least once a week and more in the winter. As PP said, try them on to make sure they fit you well, but I find that the Nike Air in the soles is really good in that the balls of my feet never hurt in these shoes at all even when I wear them on really long travel days for work with lots of walking and standing. I would splurge if I were you. |
| Fyi I believe they are being discontinued |
| I think they suck. They aren't comfortable at all. You can get Sofft for half the price and they're much better. |
| I LOVE them! They were the only pair of heels that I could wear all day the first time out of the box without a problem. |
| I have bad bunions so even the Cole Haan shoes hurt, but on the rare occasion my bunions aren't hurting, I can definitely see why people think these shoes are great. They are indeed super comfortable. |

1614 - even better. Although the ones I was looking at have a little bit of a platform... hmm... another dilemma.
I had never even heard of Sofft shoes before but I will check out their website at lunch. $119 I can swing. And DH will only applaud me (am constantly chided for not "taking care of myself" etc). God it's been a long time since I've had new shoes. |
| I don't splurge on much, but I do buy Cole Haan's. Comfortable and stylish... |
| IMO, if you cannot afford a $200 pair of shoes without going into credit card debt, you should not be buying them. |
| My feet started to hurt even if I was wearing my heels, but just sitting at my desk. I wasn't quite ready to give them up, so I bought a simple pair of black heels in Cole Haan's Nike Air line and they are worth it. My feet don't bother me at all. However, I wear them almost everyday and one of the tips on the heel had to be replaced after a couple of months. They come with an extra pair of tips when you buy them, so I think they are aware of this issue. |

Love my Cole Haans. I have a few pairs of the mid-height heels. I was always a Nine West girl and had never spent over $100 on shoes (boots, yes, shoes, no). But these shoes have made a convert out of me. I have found basic Cole Haan pumps at discount stores like Ross, Nordstrom Rack, etc. And on sale from Zappos. It is worth looking for a good price.
Because they are more expensive, I am more careful with them. If it is raining, I wear rain boots, inexpensive flats, or flops (keep some in my desk drawer for unexpected showers). I wear boots to work in the winter so I don't get salt on them. I don't wear them two days in a row (so they can dry out completely). Sofft doesn't fit me; they were too wide. I also like the Rockports with Adidas cushioning, although they have fewer cute styles. I think happy feet are worth spending a little more on. I probably get more wear out of my $150 pumps than out of a $150 work dress. But I'm also a believer in paying cash for everything except housing and maybe cars. Paying interest on clothing just doesn't make sense. |
| They are more narrow than most other shoe brands. I thought they would stretch out over time, but they are still pretty tight on me. |
