How long to get in with good developmental ped?

Anonymous
Pediatrician recommended that we get DC evaluated by a developmental pediatrician. How long is typical to wait for an appointment? We were told about three months. I am kind of overwhelmed with the situation and the wait and I'm not sure if that timing is normal (or even short?) or if I should check other places?

Thanks!

If you need one who takes insurance, the wait can be 6+ months. We are on a waitlist right now to be called to schedule an appt with Childrens.
If you can afford the cost out of pocket it might be a shorter wait. There are only a handful around.

I was told Children's can take 6 months. We chose KKI and it it took about a month. We ultimately switched to a DP out here and it took about a month to be seen.

When I called Children's last year I was told to call back in 6 months to schedule an appointment that would be another 3-6 months out. I instead went to Dr. Shapiro who was taking new patients under 4 yrs old at the time and got in immediately. We pay out of pocket and submit claims to our insurance which covers a chunk, but by no means all.
