New Return Policies are Killing Me

I've heard that both Target and Babys r us have new return policies and they're not taking anything back without a receipt. This poses a problem as most of the stuff you get for a shower won't come with the receipt. Can anyone suggest another place to register? Why doesn't Buy buy baby sell cribs?

I agree the return policies SUCK! Not sure where I'd register at this point.

Buy Buy Baby does sell cribs I think - but they are pricy.

Buy Buy Baby has TONS of cribs, just not online.

I was worried about Babies R Us too, but I returned a bunch of stuff just a few days ago without a receipt and had no problems (they did issue a store credit rather than cash, which is what i expected). Everything I returned was from my registry, which seemed to make a difference. But definitely take stuff back to the store and ask for a manager if they give you any trouble.

One other thing with both Target and Babies R Us is that the return policy is 90 days. I found this pretty inconvenient also.

If you have a registry there and the item is on teh registry both stores are pretty good about giving you store credit.

I just returned some things to Target today -- no receipt (although all tags and packaging were still on) and I got a full refund. What policy are you talking about?

I was registered at Babys R Us and would not do so again. The return policy is only 90 days, which, given that you will receive so many gifts prior to the baby's birth, seems unreasonable to me. Also, if you register for a gift that is "available online only", you cannot return it to the store, and if you try and ship it back, the purchaser of the gift will receive the credit (so they know you are returning the gift!).

Buy Buy Baby is much more reasonable- if I had it to do over, I would have registered there.

Tell me about it OP - I had to keep my fingers crossed that my guests were courteous enough to ask the cashier for (AND include) the gift receipt at my baby shower too.

Some of the Carters things I was able to return to Kohls, JCP and Sears (not sure if that is where they were purchased or not). The cashier was grumpy about it (since I had no receipt) and the cash back I received was 50% of the cost.

So you may want to try returning things to other stores that carry the same brand.

I think Babies r us isn't that bad- they give you 90 days for money back- but more and a store credit if not receipt or past that- and at baby stage, you can certainly use that card!
