Please recommend your therapist, and why you like them. Also, does anyone have experience with Rachel Kaplan, Rachel Wernicke, Megan Flood, Mavis Milne or Erin Peterson? Especially interested if you've had experience with self-esteem, parenting stress or pregnancy issues.

Where are you looking (DC, MD, or VA)? I love mine- Carol Barnaby in Bethesda. She has really helped me with my anxiety and self-esteem issues.

I read Erin Petrson's name elsewhere too, but she looked young and I was thinking I wanted someone with a little more life experience. Is that terrible, or a stupid approach? I'm in my early 40's. And new to therapy.

I don't think it's strange to prefer an older therapist. If you'd be more comfortable with someone more seasoned that's understandable.

You should absolutely take your personal preferences into account, just don't assume that life experience equals professional competence.
