Anyone know anything about this program within Emory?
Sounds like a nice way to inflate a resume, anyway.
It is a two year program for kids who are interested in Emory but might not have the profile to gain admission to Emory right out of high school. The Oxford program is on the old Emory campus and you apply to it directly. Once students complete the coursework they can matriculate to and graduate from Emory with the same degree as students who attended Emory all four years. Sort of the same idea as kids who go to NOVA for two years and then matriculate into one of the Virginia universities. However, the Oxford program is residential and students have all the advantages of being part of a large university setting.
I know people who were very happy at Oxford. I also see Oxford as an opportunity for students who may be shy or nervous about going to a larger university right out of high school. It is a nice transition and students will end up with a degree from an excellent school.
My BIL and SIL (that's where they met and fell in love...) went there and loved it. Both are really smart, so I don't know why they didn't just go the straight to Emory deal, but whatever, it worked for them. He got his Emory degree, as did she, but went on to become a pharmacist.
