I know there are many posts/threads dealing with COSA's for parents wanting to send their children to schools outside of their assigned school area. However, we are dealing with a different situation. My soon to be 9th grader was assigned to JFK via the choice program (M. Blair was first choice). Since that time, we have purchased a home in the Blair HS assignment area, and assumed that would be her new home school. Apparently, we have to submit a written request to change her assigned school. Has anyone dealt with this situation? I hope it is a mere formality, as our new home is within sight and walking distance to Blair HS, and would preclude any need for bussing, keep her in a school with other children in her neighborhood, etc.
Any comments or anecdotes would be appreciated. Thanks. |
Have you called the office at Blair? I assume they have dealt with this situation before. |
Yeah, they told me we had to contact the DCC, who in turn told us to file a written request. |
We did it within the DCC two years ago. It's a formality--you should be fine. |
1. Choice Process: http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/schools/downcounty/choice/detail.aspx Students are guaranteed assignment to their base area high school if (1) it is the base school indicated as first choice on the Choice form or (2) indicated as a second choice and the first choice school is not available 2. And you're SURE you're w/in the Blair Cluster boundaries? Check below by typing in address. http://gis.mcpsmd.org/gis/Publiclocator.asp |
Awesome. Thanks everyone. A little piece of mind goes a long way. |
