This has gotten a bit buried today, but am I the only one slightly offended by the Republicans over the top attention to the hurricane? I'm not saying that the attention isn't due but rather that it feels a bit disingenuous, like an attempt to make up for everything they didn't do 3 years ago. As someone personally affected by Katrina, it all rings a bit hollow. Yes, they cut the convention short, but what about August 2005 when they were living it up in Greece at the Wallace wedding? Nothing was cut short then. Sorry for my rant, but I just seriously doubt the GOP would focus this much on the Gulf Coast were it not an election year. |
And your doubts are well founded, imho. |
But if they did not, we'd probably be flaming them for being as insensitive as the were in 2005. It's a tightrope walk for them. |
The Cindy and Laura show at the close of yesterday was a bit much...asking for aid before anyone knows the toll of the storm. They may have included all of those, entire towns, cities, and counties, still attempting to recover from Katrina. Maybe someone should introduce them to Jimmy Carter. |
Weren't Bush and Cheney supposed to speak yesterday? DH and I think that McCain was thrilled to have an excuse not to have Bush come and speak. An easy way to conveniently distance himself from the Bush administration. |
