| Good friend visiting from out of town, and I want to take her someplace interesting in DC for dinner this weekend. We're in our early 40s, so no pick-up scenes, but somewhere newish where we can dress up a little, head out without kids or spouses (yay!) and catch up and enjoy ourselves. Double recos for drinks place and nearby restaurant also appreciated! Thanks! |
| Ha, I need this too! We are in our early 30s. I have no idea what is new or hip. |
| The restaurant in the Hotel Monaco in Penn Quarter/Chinatown. Great food, kinda fancy and girly, and they have a beautiful courtyard. have fun! |
Is that restaurant still called Poste? |
|
Second the rec for the Hotel Monaco restaurant, Poste.
In that same neighborhood, I really like Oyamel, SEI, and Central. In Logan Circle, Cork is wonderful (and great for two women sans kids). I also recommend Pearl Dive Oyster Bar. |
| Masa 14, Estadio and Birch & Barley are nice options too on the 14th St corridor. And if you can, try calling The Gibson for a drinks reservation afterwards, it's just a few blocks up. Very hard to get in without one, but girl friends usually love it! |
| Zatinya or Jaleo are fun tapas restaurants. I second the recommendation for Oyamel. PS7 is a great place for drinks. |
| Coco sala - lots of chocolate but also great entrees. Or Lincoln. |
| If you've never done Rasika, you should. It's a great experience. Not new, but still worth it. |
| Love Rasika! But it's really hard to get into. Last year 5 of us girlfriends went to Estadio. Stayed for 3 hours and had a great time! |
|
I like the recommendations for Masa 14, Estadio and Poste.
Oyamel and Jaleo are not very good. |
| Oh, Rasika too - but you need to book in advance for a res. |
| El Centro D.F. on 14th Street. Masa 14 (right next door) is good too. |
| Rasika, zatinya or birch&barley |
| Second the CoCo Sala recommendation--especially if you are without the husbands. |
