Rebuild front portico - advice/rec

| Can anyone recommend a contractor who can rebuild a portico on a 1980s brick colonial in alexandria? Alternatively, does anyone know if any building supply companies make prefab ones? I feel like my handy hubs and I could tackle a project like that, but my searches have come up empty. Experience? Thoughts? |

It's more complicated and more expensive than you think.
You need all kinds of permits, etc. And they can be difficult to come by if your home is historic. I think it costs our neighbors about $20,000 to build theirs in Alexandria up in George Washington Park (behind the Masonic Temple). |

| I don't know. My parents had one built on their house. Their carpenter drew up the plans and built it, and the total cost was about $4000. It's a traditional style, white, with a peaked roof and light fixture. I don't think it required permits but that might depend on where you live. |
