Personalized Lunch Box ?

So I heard from my MIL who is a elementary school teacher, that they do not like students to have personalized lunch boxes. Is this true? I had ordered by DD a PBK lunch box with her first name monogrammed, anyone else hear of this?

Did she say why? I was planning on writing my kindergarteners name on hers.

I've heard you should not have your child's name monogrammed on backpacks because a child abductor or pedophile could approach them while the child is walking to school or waiting at the bus stop and act like they know them, call them by their name, etc. -- essentially trick them into thinking that this is not a stranger. I can't see what the problem would be with lunchboxes if they are inside the backpack, or initials should be fine.

That sounds odd. My daughter is in 4th grade and has had a monogrammed lunch box since she was in Kindergarten. Her backpack DOES just have her monogram for the reasons mentioned above (because I am paranoid) but I can't even imagine why that would be a problem.

My son has one and he's going to second grade in FCPS. He loves that thing.
