Sounds like besides the 12's offers coming out hot and heavy for Brave players. MV doing MV things.

What does that mean? And the Vienna/BRYC players were clearly seen as stronger than McLean right?

The Union 10G just beat Brave 10G 7-2 in the fall, so no.

Funny, because Union is taking lots of kids of my daughter's Brave 2010 team. We didn't tryout because we don't want to be a part of the mess but does that mean the roster will be huge? I feel for these kids

You willing to share where you leaving McBrave for?

The projected roster sizes are:

U13: 20 Players

U14: 20 Players

U15: 20 Players

U16: 22 Players

U17: 22 Players

What does sessions being merit based mean?

Merit based = based on skill

Truth is it is very hard to determine skills and merit from a couple of large ID sessions. These sessions tend to favor players who are able to be on the ball the most and the physical ones. When a coach knows a player and has seen their body of work over time, they know about their work ethic, how they treat teammates, how coachable they are, how their parents behave.

It has been mentioned several times that game film from various clubs for the past year are also being viewed for current players. I’m hopeful that decisions are skills based and both ID and film sessions helping the decision-making.

I saw players from all the local ECNL and MLSNext clubs. Maybe you all have it wrong, maybe this merger does net really good teams next year.

Curious to know the caliber of MLS Next players at an ECNL team tryout

Do really think there is much of a skill gap between an avg MLS Nxt vs a ECNL? Both of my kids play mls teams several times a year including DCU and have yet to win or loose by more than a goal. Come on SYC coach, you scared?

Between the Average MLS Next player and ECNL player, no. Probably no significance.

Only a head in the sand individual would deny the higher overall quality of MLS Next over ECNL
So unless you are on a poor club like Achilles or at Alexandria as the 25th player on the roster, going to ECNL is an interesting move.

Which ECNL team in the DMV is on the same level as DCU?
Not saying there isn't, I just don't know it.

I agree with your overall assessment, but I other than DCU and other MLS Academies. The remainder of MLSNxt is no different, sometimes it as simple as logistics of getting to/from practice locations.

Game Films? What does the coach not know about their players already? Each coach will pick their own.

Game file can help coaches assess the players they DON'T know much about aside from an hour-long scrimmage at an ID event.

Doubt it, much rather invite them to a practice.

Is the roster really 25 per team at F.U. Union? How do they determine playing time? Great to travel and sit the pine.
