Romney is getting hit on for nondisclosure of his tax returns from both the left and the right what is he hiding?? It's public knowledge he took a 70K deduction for his wife's dancing horse and he's invested millions in Iranian Oil. Romney's unwillingness to comply with 40 years of presidential campaign financial disclosure tradition, starting with Daddy, could be his "fatal flaw" He's so tone deaf, to the electrorate and the media: note it's not only the liberal media calling for disclosure, he's going to to lose what should be the unloseable election! |
Well, the media has found a way to throw him under the bus on something that doesn't mean anything as to how he might run the country, deal with foreign leaders or even interact with Congress. There is no obligation for him to turn over the tax returns, and frankly, as an independent, undecided voter, I don't care.
When is anyone going to start talking about the real issues? Now what Romney earned, but does he have a plan for getting us out of this rut and getting Congress's head out of it's ass. Frankly, I'd like to hear what Obama might try in a second term if Congress stays divided or ends up Republican. He thinks he has a do nothing Congress now, if he is re-elected with a full Republican Congress, we'll be in an even worse mess. I do not know who I will vote for in the general, but I have heard nothing but propaganda from both sides so far. As for McCain, I think he PICKED Palin, not that he dissed Romney. He wanted to shake up the campaign. Romney is not one who would have shaken up the campaign. McCain got us all talking, but not in a good way. |
<<But Republican strategist Mary Matalin said the debate over Romney’s tax returns and offshore accounts is a “distraction, and it’s not what people care about.”
“People don’t care where his bank accounts are. They care that they don’t have much left in their bank accounts,” Matalin said. “They don’t care about his taxes. They care about their own taxes… We could put two decades of tax returns out. Is that going to produce two jobs?”>> Quotes from the linked article. Mary Matalin is wrong. I care about Romeny's offshore accounts and his tax returns. I care about his taxes, because how he treats his own tax obligations is an indicator (for me) of his views on taxes in general. If he did not have something to hide in his past tax returns he would have released them. It must be something very detrimental to his election. I also am interested in his offshore accounts, because why would I want a President who tries to dodge American taxes? |
I would care if he used offshore accounts in order to dodge taxes. Respect for the law is pretty important in a President. What could we possibly say if he was elected and got caught in a Watergate, except "shame on us". |
Im not worried about what Romney does with his OWN money, Im worried with what Obamas doing with MINE! |
You should be wondering the same thing about Romney. There are no circumstances under which he will have a veto-proof Senate, even if Republicans manage to win control. Then again, I am not sure it is worth asking Romney for anything given that you can't trust a word that comes out of his mouth. Is Obamacare a tax? Apparently that depends on the side of the bed Mitt got out of. When did Mitt retire from Bain? Humm, what is the politically expedient answer and how much trouble can one get into for lying to the SEC? When Romney can't answer simple questions about his centerpiece legislation or the job that provides the basis of his campaign pitch, how you think he will answer the hard questions? |
i know no reason to maintain off shore accounts other than for tax avoidance.
Does tax dodging create jobs? Have we ever had a President who admits to maintaining off shore accounts and refuses to disclose any details? We the people have the right to expect an answer to a legitimate question. |

Who are you kidding you're an undecided, independent voter??? This isn't a liberal media creation..I think every news medium including the Foxes believes that this is a critical issue. This isn't propaganda! The man transferred funds too Swiss, Cayman, and Bermuda banks. How you, as a proud independent undecided vote views this as irrelevant defies credibility. One stashes money off shore usually for nefarious reasons. Can you Ms/Mrs/Mr Independent cite me one reason why a presidential candidate would take such an action and then have the arrogance to say it's unfair and unjust for his opponent to ask him to justify these suspect financial transactions. I believe only you, Mary Matlin and the rest of the wacko right wing nuts believe these financial transactions are out of bounds. If the were "Kosher" why wouldn't he release the info and be done with it?? |

Hey right wingers read what this bleeding heart liberal has to say |
Wish I could have retired retroactively while getting several hundred thousand dollars in salary before doing so. |
Slack-jawed yokel here. Um, if a President is invested in Iranian oil, does that create a potential conflict of interest with regard to middle east politics, sanctions, etc.? Just wondering. |
Actually that would make me feel better. Because six months ago, he was talking like he wanted to bomb Iran. So maybe he'll go soft on them for his own profit. Oh wait, that doesn't sound good either.... |
From the beginning Romney has been the man of slippery principles who decides what job he wants and then slips into the ideas that he thinks appeal to those whose votes he needs. All politicians do this to some extent, but usually it's a matter of adjusting core principles; in this case there is no core that anyone knows of. When you start off not having reason to trust a guy, anything that relates to trustworthiness is a natural issue to look at. |
Even Bill Kristol said Romney needs to release them. |
