Cindy is offended

In a Stephanopoulos interview, as reported on http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/08/cindy-mccain-te.html, CM responded to a question about BO's accusation that JM is out of touch with the middle class:
"I'm offended by Barack Obama saying that about my husband," said McCain's wife Cindy.

When asked if Obama went too far in his criticism of McCain, Cindy responded, "I do. I do. I really do."

McCain also said beer the distributorship her father built, which is the source of much her family's wealth, typifies the American Dream.

"My father had nothing. He and my mother sold everything they had to raise $10,000," she said. "I'm proud of what my dad and my mother did and what they built and left me. And I intend to carry their legacy as long as I can."

Doesn't it have a better beat to say "I do. I do. I really, really do."?

Snark, snarrk, snark. She's exactly right and I think everyone on this board would feel the same way as she does.

Cindy McCain's father was an entirely self-made man who didn't even have a high school diploma. He built his business from the ground up. One would think we would all admire that, just as we admire Obama for being an entirely self-made man.

We admire that. But I thought the guy we are talking about is the one who grew up in a family of admirals and got rich by divorcing his ailing wife and marrying an heiress twenty years younger. Another case of "misdirection". Akin to McCain answering Jay Leno's question about his houses by harking back to his home in Viet Nam.

Yes, I know Dems do it too. It's par for our discourse these days.
