Something just does not make sense to me -
My DC’s base school (it is not a center, but with local level IV program) had 4 2nd grade classes this past school year, and now will have 2 AAP Local level IV classes for 3rd grade (not sure if there is another one or two regular classes, I assume two). This make me think that how many kids got selected to AAP Level IV program? besides the kids choose to go to center (as far as I know, quite a few did), there are still enough AAP Level IV students to fill 2 classroom in base school? So how many percentage 2nd grade made to AAP level IV? Over 50%? |

Which school? |
| It is summer now. Didn't the school go over how the local level IV will be structured with parents in the spring? I would be concerned myself why there would be confusion at this point. There can't be that many children who got in on appeal and isn't appeal in the spring only for private school kids anyway? |
| some schools send alot of kids, some less. sad to say much depends on economic factors probably. a school close to us sent 4 kids to a center last year, while our school send more than 35. the kids all seemed smart enough to go and school admin is tough, so i believe the kids had the scores to go. it just depends on what kids make up the school. |
| So what percentage was that? Did anyone stay at your local level IV program if 35 went to a center? |
| it was about 21% of class, we have no local level iv. |
| I think it is great that you know how many classes will be at each grade level for September. We're in FCPS, too, and we don't know how many classes will be at each grade level yet. |
| I know for one of the local schools implementing their own level IV this year, the classes will be made of up kids who were eligible for level IV, but chose to stay and kids who are eligible for level III. |
Same boat here. Once the transfers from the private schools and the successful appeals are factored in we could be looking at over 30 students per each LLIV class, making the percentage of third graders in AAP over 50! My hunch is that a good number are principal designates and some are preppers. Starting to regret not choosing the center school but heard rumor that class sizes will be high there too. Oh well there is always next year. |
