Looking for nice, reasonably priced infant daycare in DC starting January 2013

Anonymous
My husband and I are expecting our first together due in September. After we've both exhausted our leave, we anticipate needing to putting our little munchkin in daycare starting Jan. 2013. We would like for him to be in D.C. closer to both of our jobs as opposed to Silver Spring where we'll be living. This is my first time searching for daycares and I don't know where to start. Although I must admit from what I've seen the prices are scaring me.

If anyone has any great recommendations for infant daycares of any kind in DC that cost less than $1200 a month, please let me know.

Thanks!

Where do you work?

I pay $1200 for a four year old so I have trouble imaging a place offering an infant spot for that amount. Sometimes home daycares are less expensive. That is what we did at first and it worked out very well. Good luck.

Yes, you're much more likely to find something at that price in Silver Spring rather than in DC. And you're not likely to find home daycares near your offices if you're downtown.

Safer to have kid in Sil Pring

I say this with kindness, you won't find anywhere in dc to provide care for your son for less than $1200 that you'd feel good about leaving him. Unless perhaps you can find a subsidized program of some kind. It sucks but it's the reality of life here. Good luck!

PS I hope someone chimes in and proves me wrong!

Are you going to be in downtown DC? If so, I think daycares there are about $1,800 to $2k for a newborn, and that's if you are lucky enough to get a space.

I pay 1275, its the same price for infants to 4/5 years old.
