| I just can't picture a young little Geraldine running around. What's the draw with this name? |
| I have a really cool friend with that name. She is beautiful and awesome. It's funny how a pretty, cool person will change your mind about a less popular name. |
|
in the top thousand names means it still isn't given to very many children - there really isn't a "draw." Maybe 2 more kids got it than last year, thus pushing it over the top 1000 goalpost. Now, if it went from not in top 1000 to top 100 within a year, THEN I'd start talking about a draw.
FWIW, my kid's name has only made the top 1000 names a couple time in the past 20 years. I love the name, although I'm sure others don't. I don't personally like Geraldine, but I see where others might. Maybe it is a beloved grandmother's name, like all the sophies and roses out there claim. |
I picture this:
|
| I like Geraldine... not my favorite name but I think its a nice name |
| I don't think it is a pretty name, but to each their own. |
| OMG Flip Wilson - I love you PP! |
| Gerry or Dina for a nickname, do you think? I'm secretly sad I didn't push to name our daughter Gertrude- she looks just like a Trudy. |
|
I like it. Not my favorite, but it's nice.
I like Trudy too. Maybe I like Gertrude a little less. In fact, I had a Great Aunt Gertrude who went by "Sunny" because she never liked her name. |
|
I had a grandmother named Gertrude, who went by Gertie. Yikes.
Geraldine always reminds me of that Flip Wilson character, although many younger moms will have no clue about this character. He has completely ruined it, but it might not be too bad otherwise. |
LOL -- Flip Wilson -- that's what I immediately think of when I hear 'Geraldine'. I'm glad I'm not the only one here who remembers that!
Ignoring that, I still do not care for the name. |
| OK, I know who Flip Wilson is, but who is that character? (too lazy to google) |
| Not sure who Flip Wilson is, but it makes me think of the Vicar of Dibley. (But I've posted earlier that I'm in the generally pro-Geraldine camp.) |

A far worthier Geraldine:
