| My husband is overseas for the year, so we are doing IUI (no known issues). We had our first IUI (unsuccessful) last month. I'm preparing for my second IUI, and the nurse mentioned that instead of coming in for morning monitoring, I could do home monitoring with an ovulation urine test. Has anyone else done this? I'm worried that it might not be as accurate as in-office monitoring, but it sure would be more convenient. |

Yes, I did with both pregnancies using frozen sperm and an iui. I was also really good at reading the other signs of ovulation-- took my temp before getting out of bed, checking cervical mucus--so I could cross- check the ovulation predictor. They can be a little tricky at first. They're not like pregnancy tests where any line is a positive. What you're looking for is the line to get darker as you test. I usually ovulated on day 13, so on day 11 I'd test in the morning, then around 4pm, then on day 12 I'd test in the morning and again at lunch. I'd go in for the iui in the afternoon of day 12.
Good luck to you! |
| OP, If you don't mind sharing, can you tell me where you are doing your IUI? I'm a poor responder to IVF and I am thinking of trying an IUI (I only make 2-3 mature eggs on the highest of meds), so I'm not concerned with multiples. Would really like to try an IUI where I could cut out some of the monitoring. TIA |
| I did home monitoring for my IUI. It's much less time-consuming and invasive than in-office monitoring. Probably not quite as accurate, but I was willing to take the trade-off. |
