of concern to me is black unemployment creeping up 0.8% last month and the stat that 200k jobs will need to be created between now and election day just to crack 8%
im not saying obama is screwed, but it gets harder every month the numbers dont improve or show some signs of life. it sort of helps obama too that romney just thinks not presenting any ideas on how he can fix this mess (without the same ole' overturning "obamacare") is somehow the key to victory. its pathetic that elected officials cant work together to solve anything these days. this is the result of that. the finger is pointed at people from both parties so this isnt about obama v. republicans etc. obama winning isnt going to improve shit because republicans will be hell bent on blocking everything still and romney winning can end up a gridlock as well depending how the senate goes. this is all bullshit |
I just discouraged by it bee moved to the DC area (for jobs) from out west. It is amazing how bad things are out there. My old neighbor said there are so many houses for sale/rent which are clearly vacant. People just up and leave in the middle of the night. People are really hurting. I don't know what the answer is. I fear it is probably neither of theses candidates though. |
Haha , raise taxes on the employers, unlimited unemployment compensation and government assistance, unsustainable green jobs, temporary construction , bailouts to failing industries, government healthcare paid for by private industry taxes, what did everyone expect? |
Obama has cut taxes, not raised them. That's part of the problem. Unemployment compensation beats more people sleeping in the streets. We should be working for green jobs. That's the future. I realize you're a backwards thinker, but some of us are concerned about the future. Temporary construction? You talking about fixing infrastructure? Like our broken bridges and the like? Bush bailed out the failing industries, not Obama. Obama DID rescue GM and the U.S. auto industry though. The "private industry" asked for Obamacare. And Obamacare is better than the current system. |
Obamacare...biggest tax increase in history. |
Obama is heading toward the cliff with his foot on the accelerator. Spreading the misery equally is the democrat way. |

Can I just point out that these are preliminary numbers? They will be revised several times over the next 3 months.
Everybody always gets very excited about these short term numbers but the truth is only after 3 months or so they will be reasonably accurate (after those revisions). Anyway. |
Im OP so are you suggesting the number will be revised from 80k to 200k in a few months? i dont think any amount of revision can move the needle to where the 8.2 is looked at as better. again, the economy needs to produce 200k plus jobs a month until the election to just get at 8%. im "team obama" and everything, but just like my favorite sports team, i dont window dress how bad they are. if they suck and the losses are there to back it, i cant possibly make an argument that they are somehow still a strong team. it doesnt mean though, ill stop cheering for them. same thing for obama. the jobs number is shit right now. sure he can beat romney, but the chips are stacked against him as the economy continues to do nothing. |
Um, no. Not even close. The only people it taxes are the idle rich who earn more than $250,000 living off their investments. Oh, and idiots who use tanning salons. |
OP again and here are the "robust revisions" you speak of from prior months: "May and April payroll numbers saw small revisions with little net effect. Nonfarm payrolls increased by 77,000 in May, compared with the previously reported 69,000, and April payrolls grew by 68,000 versus a previously reported 77,000." |
Everyone should just be happy that things are not worse. Haven't you been paying attention? Government at all levels is cutting spending. That's exactly what the Republicans want. This is driving unemployment directly -- through government layoffs -- and indirectly through reduced spending on projects.
On top of that Europe is in the midst of a devastating economic crisis. Those countries are not buying our goods. If our own people don't have money and the Europeans don't have money, the potential market for US goods and services is pretty small. You may not be satisfied with Obama -- and I am certainly not -- but look at what the Republicans have to offer: false claims about Obamacare, more cuts in government spending, tax cuts for the rich, and the scrapping of the safety net. In fact, they even criticize the fact that Obama saved the auto industry. Can you imagine the unemployment situation if we had followed Romney's advice to let Detroit go bankrupt? |
Good God! The unemployment rate in Fairfax County is already 4.1%. If Romney and those anti-government Tea Party types all get elected, think of what will happen. The unemployment rate in Fairfax County might go up to 8.2% or even higher. I hope that all of you have some money in the bank to pay off your mortgages on the Mac-Mansions and your car loans for the BMWs. Obama needs increase Federal spending before it is too late... |
Gee what taxes went up? |
