Food ideas for memorial service

Anonymous
My brother and I are hosting a casual memorial gathering for about 50 friends and family for our father who passed away in March at a local community center. We won't have time or energy to make food and were going to pick up platters or have a catering company provide food but I'm having a hard time figuring out what kind of food to serve for a 2 pm gathering. Any ideas of food or places to pick up or cater from would be much appreciated.

Thanks

For a 2pm event that isn't expected to last more than an hour or two, light hors d'oeuvres and some sweets seems fine. Use very small plates and mainly finger foods.

If I didn't have a big budget, I'd get platters of small sandwiches and cheese and such from Costco.

I am sorry for your loss. I agree with the Costco recommendation. I'd get small sandwich and wrap platters (all cut small - the sandwiches in quarters and wraps into pinwheels), along with fruit/veggie trays and some trays of brownies/cookies. I bet someone in the deli could give you an idea of quantities. Or you could do something similar at Giant.

OP here. Thanks so much everyone. I'm going to look into wrap and cheese platters from Giant and make things easy for us. I appreciate the suggestions.
