Local Olympians

I thought that it would be nice to start a thread listing local DC Metro area people who will attend the Olympics and Para Olympics.

this would be fun to know - can you list whatever else you know about them, too. Like specific city or college or what ties them to this area? Maybe if family are traveling to see them compete, or any other details. Thanks!

Katie Ledecky, 15, from Bethesda, will swim the women's 1500m freestyle. She's a rising sophomore at Stone Ridge.

Also swimming that event is Kate Ziegler, 24, from Great Falls.

Ledecky swims for Curl-Burke. Ziegler 's cap said "FISH" on it, so maybe somebody knows what team that is.

LOL! It's the FISH. They swim at Springhill in McLean and Audrey Moore (in Annandale?). My child is on the FISH. It's great team.

Gabby Douglas, gymnastics, is from Virginia Beach, though she trains in Iowa.

There's a Post article on her this week. It's somewhere local. She is a Whitman alum.

I think in Gaithersburg, at Rhythmflex? I'm not certain about that but it is somewhere local.

She made it in the 800 free. Weirdly the women don't have the 1500 in the Olympics...makes no sense though.
