Please don't change the baby on the picnic tables at the playground!

Ugh. I witnessed this today in Arlington at the park by Lee/Harrison. The person doing it (I'm pretty sure it was a nanny) didn't use any type of changing pad or cloth underneath the poor boy's bum (which had diaper rash).

I was pretty grossed out by it.

Why is this so bad? If I didn't have a changing pad, I would change my baby on the table before I did it on the ground. With that said, I've changed my baby on a picnic table before, albeit with a changing pad. Also, you were outdoors. I'm sure all sorts of animals have relieved themselves on the picnic tables, on the jungle gym, on the bench, etc.

That's NASTY.

Why would you change the baby on the table instead of the ground--because it's cleaner? Then why not help keep it that way?

It's a picnic table, not the kitchen counter!

That is so true.

If you're eating on a picnic table, you have to consider that there might have been a squirrel peeing on the table right before you got there. It's outside, who knows what's on those tables.

It's not like the boy was taking a dump on the bench or anything.

It's grose to watch, and rude. A picnic table is used by people to eat food. And these people don't want no poopy ass kid germs where their food and utensils are going. Common sense and respect!

I'm sure cooks scratch their nuts behind closed doors when preparing your food, but you still eat it. But if you see the cook doing this, I bet you'd be pretty grosed out too!

It isn't hard to put down a changing mat.

As animals all know... you don't sh*** where you eat.

Just goes to show...animals are more intelligent than some humans.

I can not believe you asked why it is so bad to change a diaper on a table meant to EAT on. Gross. Can you say DIEASE. Hepatitis is a big one spread thru poop. Not to mention all the other nasty little things poop can give you. YUCK! to you and the person that changed the diaper on the table. I would have said something.

Well, just another reason to get your child vaccinated - if you're so worried about Hepatitis.

I seriously do not see what the big deal is.
And where else was she supposed to change the baby? On the ground?
I would have changed the baby on the table too. Too bad you are so easily grossed out.

NP, I would change the baby on the ground - absolutely. Changing a baby on a surface where people eat is rude.

Where else to change the baby? On the bench of the picnic table. I've done that many times.
