I started Lupron on day 21 of cycle ( if I remember correctly). The plan was to start stims as soon as my period started, which usually was on day 28. However the Lurpon delayed my period until almost day 35 or 36. Started stims then and kept on the Lupron. Never did use birth control pills, not sure why since so many women have that as part of their regiment. Anyhow, IVF worked on first try for me and I am 39. I was very concerned and impatient that things weren't working so yes at some ppint you have to trust the sono's, blood work etc and your drs interpretation of the results each day. Very frustrating. I remember driving home from my day 6 stim apt sobbing because they only saw 3 or 4 follicles and it all felt like a HUGE waste of time and money (I had that many follicles on clomid!). Immediately went in for an an extra acupunture apt (with electro stimulation). Dr had planned to keep me on stims for 10 days but may a call on day 10 at 3pm to do two more days. Managed to get 6 eggs and five fertilized! Hang in there. IVF is tough just take it ONE day at a time.
