Kids With Special Needs and Disabilities
|
I have two boys - one 8 and one 4. The older one is at Lab School -- although he is charming and social, he has ADHD, sensory issues, etc. that make managing his behavior and understanding his responses, at times, difficult for a layperson. The younger boy also seems attentionally challenged (or just 4, who knows). They are a lot of happy but intense energy. I need a babysitter/part-time nanny who can take care of them 2-3 days a week after 3pm until past bedtime as I am going back to school part-time. The third day could be split up into smaller segments and I can always find more time.
My question is this: how the heck do we find the students studying special education at AU, Trinity, and other colleges and grad schools around here? I have tried GW's site and for the life of me can't access a thing. AU is good, but not specific to grad school or any such thing. Does anyone have any tips?? Much much appreciated Jen |

I'd be happy to chat with you and share what I know from my search for a part-time preschool facilitator from all those schools last year. Honestly, they didn't really respond despite the lovely chats I had with the administrators of those programs who offered to put the word out and/or post my ad. I did finally find someone through the GW site (a fabulous school counseling grad student), so maybe I can help walk you through that. I also might have a great sitter to share with you. Feel free to e-mail me offline at buzbaum@starpower.net.

Jen, How did your 8 year old arrive at the Lab School (meaning, public route and then applied in, other privates)? How was the application process? More importantly, ist he school working for your son? Thanks. |
