Boston - luxury hotel rec?

Anonymous
Hi. We are looking for a luxury hotel rec in Boston - no budget this is a treat. There are so many online when I looked with great reviews - if someone could narrow down the top ones that would be so helpful. Also, what are the main attractions to do and see in Boston with kiddies and for adults. Thank you.

Copley Plaza Hotel is elegant "Old Boston" in Back Bay - great shopping (Newbury Street, Copley Place), Public Garden, Beacon Hill, Charles River and Boston Common all easily walked to.

Four Seasons is - well, Four Seasons - on Public Garden, near everything as well.
Raj is the original Ritz Carlton, smaller rooms, but equally elegant and near all the above mentioned sights, right smack on Newbury Street across from Public Garden.

The Liberty Hotel is at the foot of Beacon Hill on Charles River, close to the "T" and a funky, cool hotel - closer to waterfront sights and north end than the others. Used to be the Suffold County jail building, historic and great views from the rooms.

The Boston Harbour Hotel is right on water, great views from harbor side rooms. Elegant hotel. Near Fanueil Hall and North End. I think it's a little more "touristy"in that area in summertime - but if you like the harbor setting it cannot be beat.

Definitely stroll through North End, window shop and people watch on Newbury Street, wander around Beacon Hill and ride Swan Boats in Public Garden. Take a harbour cruise. Walk along the Charles River, maybe see a concert on the esplanade. Harvard Square and the Harvard Museums (Natural History) are very nice. The Museum of Fine Arts is spectacular. Go to top of Prudential Building for the views. Aquarium is nice. The "Duck Tours" are great for kids. The Museum of Science is great. Skip Fanueil Hall - just the same stores you see at the mall and crowded -maybe walk through on your way to North End to see Old orth Church and maybe catch an Italian street festival.....

PP pretty much covered it all.

I really like the Ritz Carlton, personally. But the Four Seasons is also great. And do skip Faneuil Hall unless you enjoy, say M & Wisconsin at the peak of tourist time. Same thing, really.

There's also an intercontinental near the Boston Harbor Hotel that is nice but I like the Harbor hotel better. I like the Four Seasons the best.

4 seasons or the ritz. Intercontinental is nice but not luxury - it is the same company as holiday inn, after all. Copley plaza is elegant but OLD and not as up to date.

Four Seasons is almost too "nice" and "slick" - it does not have the old Boston charm. We stayed at Copley Plaza last eyer and the room was huge, overlooking Copley Square. Comfortable and elegant. The one time we did stay at Four Seasons we had a so-so sized room with no view. But everyone's experience is different. Nice thing about Copley Plaza is if you get a rainy day (remember this is New England) you can dash across the street to Copley/Prudential Center and walk around inside to stores, restaurants, movie theaters, other hotels....etc. They also have the Oak Room and Oak Room Bar which, again, I think are so elegant and traditional. Four Seasons bar and restaurant is full of poseurs, IMO.....
