ISO unlimited salad bar

Anonymous
In other parts of the country, they have restaurants that are entirely made up of an unlimited salad bar, with a huge variety of fresh ingredients (not heavily into weird pasta salads and stuff like they have here at a typical restaurant). Does anyone know of a restaurant with a great salad bar (lots of simple fresh ingredients not already fully of dressings) where you can get as much as you want, without having to pay for the usual buffet items like carving stations, etc. or order an entree along with the salad? I'm really craving huge salads right now...and don't want to have to pay for the other menu items to get them.

Yes, like Fresh Choice. If only.

If it's out there, I'd be interested too. I really miss Sweet Tomatoes and Souper Salad in particular. They were popular in the midwest and Florida, but I've never seen them north of Tennessee.

Chuck E Cheese has an unlimited salad bar. But, not sure that's the ambience you are looking for.

If I remember correctly, Ruby Tuesday has a big salad bar which you can get unlimited.

I don't know if this is as huge as you are looking for, but I just went to Jason's Deli on Leesburg Pike near Tysons this week and they have an unlimited salad bar for $7.50. It is pretty basic, but also has some pasta salads, etc. THey also have free lowfat ice cream!

This is OP. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try Ruby Tuesday and Jason's. Yeah, Fresh Choice and Sweet Tomatoes are what I was thinking of. Wouldn't it be nice to have them here?

Do you work downtown? There are quite a few pay-by-the-pound salad bars around Farragut Square. (We call the one nearest our office The Trough.) A giant salad with tons of veggies, eggs, croutons, etc usually runs me $8-10. A little pricey, but when you're stuck at the office with a craving, it's better than than limp crap from Cosi.

Sweet Green in Georgetown
Chop't (several locations in DC and Rosslyn)
You can get just the salad bar at Fogo de Chao

Golden Corral if you have one near you.

Although the salad bar at Fogo de Chao is truly fabulous, I wouldn't pay $40 just to frequent it. Bring on the steaks!!

I'm pretty sure the salad bar only option is less than the full option at Fogo de Chao.

Didn't the Chart House have an awesome salad/fruit bar?

Haven't been there in years so not sure if that is still an option.
