| Spending a week at the beach with 20, including kids age 5-14. Any suggestions for easy snack recipes? We usually have fruit salad, pasta salad, spinach dip, and hummus. Looking for something new and fun this year. |

I don't know if it appeals, but I do a bunch of roll-ups and cut them into "pinwheels." They are nice, easy snacks and I can make a bunch of different kinds. From savory to slightly sweet. Turkey, cheese, and guac in a spinach tortilla. Pesto, brie, and diced peppers in another. Or pesto, walnuts, goat cheese, tomatoes.

If you have an oven, these mustard batons are elegant and really easy to do with store-bought puff pastry.

| dumb pinwheel question -- do you overlap the tortillas to make the jellyroll bigger? I feel like these would just fall apart for me the second I cut into them. |
I don't. I refrigerate them whole for about an hour, then cut. Use toothpicks if they feel they are unwrapping. |

A few random ideas:
real popcorn, popped on the stove mini quiches (or full-sized quiches) cheese/meat platter with salami, olives, etc canned smoked herring (aka "kippers") |
| Go on pinterest there will be a ton of ideas |
| Tons of fruit -- fill bowls with apples, tangerines, bananas, oranges -- when anyone says they're hungry, point to the nearest bowl. |
| Take refrigerator croissants, unroll as one sheet. Spread a little crisco, sprinkle a little salt to taste, the put diced ham or bacon (I usually use smithfield smoked country ham) and diced scallions. Roll and cook according to the croissant package. Once cooked, they can be served hot or cold and are easy to reheat in a toaster oven. Great finger foods. Kids love them, too (who doesn't love croissants?). |
Don't use tortillas - use the larger, thinner, stretchier wrap bread. Is it called lavash? |
This sounds gross. Crisco? Seriously? People still use that? |
| The hits at our beach house this year were cevichi and baked potato salad (potato salad with baked potato fixings). |
| Jim Beam. |
