OK - please bear with me on this.
I will be flying with my 6 mo soon. I purchased a seat for her and will be taking a Roundabout with me. Is there a forward / backward facing option with an airplane for installing a car seat? |
|
Yes. I have installed the Roundabout backwards facing on airplanes. Just use the seatbelt to tighten.
Do a search on the FAA website for regulations that say you can take a carseat backwards facing. I don't get trouble too often on domestic flights, but the person in front of you might raise a stink that they can't recline. You are in your right to do this, but be armed with the law just incase. |

Thank you for that tip!
A follow up - do you have a recommended location for the infant car seat? Window? Thanks |
| I think it has to be the window, so that in case of emergency everyone can exit the row. |
| The airline stewards make you put the baby next to the window so that they don't block people from exiting. They don't care if you do them rear or front facing though. |

I'm just planning on checking my carseat at the hanger, and keeping my DS on my lap throughout the flight. Have done it in the past, and worked well.

| Btw, though you CAN install rear facing, there's really no benefit to doing so. The danger on planes is not a collision. Much more likely is the up and down force of turbulence. If the seatbelt install is more secure ff, you should install ff. |
| Try to sit in the bulkhead then you won't have to deal with the person in front of you being upset since they can't recline. |
