We've bathed our kids every night for 4 years and 17 months, respectively, no dry skin or anything. Kids get so dirty in a day, especially once they become mobile, that I think they need it!

I don't think DD needs to do it every day from a cleanliness standpoint. But it's part of our bedtime routine and she likes it so it's daily. We only use soap (other than diaper area) every few days though.

We did same as the PP. The bath was part of the bedtime routine, but we only did a "soapy bath" like every 3rd day. On the other days DS just splashed in the water and we poured water on him. He loved it! During the winter we used lotion to prevent dry skin.

We did a nightly bath as part of the bedtime routine until DC1 was three. There were no skin issues, but when DC2 arrived, it just became too much to have a nightly bath, so we dropped it back to every other night, even sometimes every third night if he isn't too dirty.

Not bad, but unnecessary work. Baby doesn't need it, but if you enjoy it, there's no harm. You could skip soap every other night, so it's just a rinse in water.

I am the PP. I will clarify -- it is great to wash baby's bottom with water daily (soap not necessary daily) -- it really prevents diaper rash to clean with more than just baby wipes. Also, FYI, washing baby's bottom with water after every bowel movement is best to prevent diaper rash.

Mine gets baby food everywhere, so baths are needed in his case. But we go very light on the soap, and sometimes we use none at all.

We do it nightly since infancy as part of bedtime routine. It's one of the highlights of our day. We lube up with moisturizer right afterward and she's never had a problem with dry skin.

I don't think its harmful by any means. However, it did not work out in our family so well. My DS has really dry skin and even every other day in the winter was too drying.

Now that he is 2 and its summertime, we bathe daily, but still not always with soap all over his body.

We've been bathing our now 8 month old every day as part of his bedtime routine since about 3months. Like PPs, we go light on the soap and only was his hair every few days.

A few drops of mineral oil in the tub will help if your baby develops dry skin. Ours had eczema and we were told to do this for awhile . It especially helps in the winter.
