ICE Attorney: 'This job sucks' What we know: Julie Le, an attorney working on behalf of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, admitted in court Tuesday that the government is "overwhelmed" by the number of legal challenges coming out of Operation Metro Surge. Le appeared in court to explain why ICE has repeatedly failed to comply with court orders during the ongoing immigration operation in Minnesota. What they're saying: "I am here to make sure the agency understands how important it is to comply with court orders," said Le, who became visibly emotional during the court hearing. While Le said procedures are being implemented to ensure ICE complies with court orders moving forward, she admitted it has been like pulling teeth and has required non-stop work in an already depleted office. "I wish you would just hold me in contempt of court so I can get 24 hours of sleep," Le said. "The system sucks, this job sucks, I am trying with every breath I have to get you what I need." U.S. District Judge Jerry Blackwell said he called Tuesday’s hearing to remind ICE and other federal agencies they are not above the law. Big picture view: "Some of this is of your own making because of non-compliance with orders," Blackwell said. Blackwell expressed frustration that people with no criminal records are being wrongfully detained even after judges have ordered their immediate release. He said there are too many detainees and too many cases in the ongoing immigration operation that is clearly outpacing the logistics. The backstory: Le volunteered to help the U.S. Attorney’s Office last month as habeas petitions started to flood into federal court. She previously worked as an attorney for ICE in immigration court. ICE has its own court policies and procedures and was not prepared to argue cases in federal court, according to Le. "We have no guidance or direction on what we need to do," Le said. |

First, this merges illegal and legal , duh?? Second, Libertarians write reams of studies showing migration causes economic growth. But they omit that the costs and benefits of migration are not evenly distributed across society. The rich benefit from mass migration through cheap labor. The working class pays the cost of migration by lower wages and competition with migrants for housing, education, and welfare benefits. Third, The narrative is they lower wages, take up public resources, and live in homes that could be occupied by Americans. |
Blaming the housing crisis on migrants is hilarious when it’s almost entirely been caused by the complete commodification of real estate. You could deal with wages by having a decent minimum wage, which the republicans right against like it was an Epstein file. |
Do you have an equivalent study with actual data to demonstrate these points? Or did you simply pull them from your rectum? |
RealtyChek economist Alan Tonelson recently published findings comparing 2024 and 2025 wage trends that show that the decrease in illegal hiring this year has led to increased wages across many working-class industries that heavily hire illegal workers. Tonelson concludes: “These findings, of course, conform entirely with the uncontroversial idea that, all else equal, when the supply of anything (including people) grows faster than the demand, the price of that thing tends to fall.” and "The above figures don’t mean that nothing about the Trump deportation policies can be legitimately criticized. But they certainly make clear that exempting non-criminal illegal aliens from immigration crackdowns will be doing a major injustice to a huge number of legally resident Americans. " Congress can expand upon this trend of increasing wages for the working class and decreasing inequality by passing E-Verify legislation. https://alantonelson.wordpress.com/2026/01/27/whats-left-of-our-economy-illegal-alien-workers-are-indeed-suppressing-lots-of-u-s-wages/ |
Random person’s Wordpress blog is not a study, but thanks for playing. |
Interesting. This opinion piece by the Wall Street Journal editorial board suggests that e-verify laws are harmful to the economy. The article says that by passing a law that employers with 25 or more employees have to use e-verify, Florida lost a lot of workers and has fallen in record job growth, “U.S. Labor Department data suggest that Florida’s E-Verify law has harmed job growth. In the year before the law took effect, Florida led the country in job creation. But employment growth fell by half in 2024 and has been flat since last February.” The areas where job losses have been felt most acutely are construction, hospitality, and farm work. “There’s little evidence that undocumented migrants are taking jobs from Americans. The reality is that employers can’t find enough Americans willing to work in the fields or hang drywall, even at attractive wages. Farm hands in Florida who work year-round earn roughly $47,000, which is more than what some young college graduates earn. Republicans who want every illegal worker deported cite the rule of law, but they also decline to allow legal pathways to work in the U.S. There are human and economic costs to all this, and Florida’s campaign threatens to mar Mr. DeSantis’s impressive economic record. The lesson for President Trump is that businesses can’t grow if government takes away their workers. ” Excerpt From “Opinion | Mass Deportation and Florida Jobs” The Editorial Board The Wall Street Journal https://apple.news/AO92x0CJjS2e7UMWtouI5tw |
