what does an embryo quality of I-S mean?

We got our embryology report from a recent cycle and the embryo quality was deemed, "I-S." Any ideas of what this stands for? My husband's guess was "intelligent and super." Aww.

You may have to ask your doctor. I don't think that there's a uniform system of embryo grading. In some practices grade I (or 1, or A) is a great embryo, while others rank the best looking embryos at Grade 4 or IV. Some use a three rank scale, others use a five. And I'm not sure what the S would mean. So you'll have to get this from the clinician.

Thanks, 20:25. What puzzles me is that the, 'I,' really is the letter, 'i', not the number 1, one. Maybe S for stable? I'll have to ask our doctor.

my clinic also uses letters ie/ AA, or AB etc.

PP 20:25 here -- Huh! now you've got me curious. Please report back if you have time, because I have no idea. Could possibly just be some internal coding? But who knows.

It's grade 1 and symmetrical. Meaning no fragmentation and the cells are symmetrical/even. It's great!
