Little stuffed animal in crib? What age?

Anonymous
When is it ok for a baby to have a little stuffed animal in the crib at night? I’d like to introduce a “lovey” to my 8 month old but am so trained not to have anything in the crib that it makes me a little nervous. He’s rolling and not quite crawling so I’m guessing it’s ok, but am curious what others have done. Thanks!

You're fine. We started at around 3-4 months with a blankey. It scared me a bit because both of my kids like to put their lovey over their heads to sleep. But if they're strong enough to roll and turn, they are most likely fine.

By 8 months I would have no worries at all. Especially for a stuffed animal and not a blanket.

At 8 mos our baby had a bunch of stuffed animals in his crib!!! All sizes. No bumper, we never used that.

we started adding toys and a blankie to the crib right when baby boy was able to roll over easily....6 months? i still worry, at nearly one year!, with the blanket and try to keep it below his waist, but he's fine.

Tip: If your child takes to an item - get a back up and switch them out frequently so that they both wear.
