How to Find a Beach house for Summer 2009

My family wants to do a beach vacation next year.

My brothers live in NOVA and just outside of NYC.

We would like to all get together for a week at the beach - and we are looking for recommendations for locations - both general (town) and specifc (this property or this real estate agency).

There are 10 adults and 6 kids ranging in age from 1-13.

Because of the people in NY, we do not think heading south is the way we want to go.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated as none of us have done a week at the beach before.

Look at the Jersey Shore. Avalon, Stone Harbor, Sea Isle City.

Don't have as much familiarity with beaches north of here as we usually go south. But a good suggestion to find a property once you've decided on location is via vrbo.com

Bethany has some great beach houses. Check out craigslist.

I found a great beach house for my extended family (three generations, 14 people, 2 dogs) in Lewes. Plenty to do for all generations. State park; funland; bay beach, atlantic beaches, cute historical town. Half of us came from outside NYC and half from the DC area, and all seemed happy with it. Found the house on vrbo.com.

Cape May is really nice. It has a nice beach and the town area is nice, too. Lots of kid friendly restaurants as well as some more upscale ones if you are able to get a babysitter!

We just did our first vacation in Bethany Beach and loved it. greatrentals.com is another site in addition to vrbo.com
